Ethics of Publication

Langua is a journal that seeks to disseminate scientific information based on the results of original research that respects the principles of honesty and science. We package these principles in an Ethics Standard that we have compiled based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, the full text of which can be accessed at https://publicationethics.org/.

Ethical Standards for Authors

Definition of authorship

The author is a person who is responsible for the drafting and revision process, contributes to the design of the manuscript, collects and interprets data, and is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the content of the manuscript. Authorship can be divided into two parts, namely co-author and corresponding author.

Co-Author: any person who has made a significant contribution to a journal article. They also share responsibility and accountability for the results of the published research.

Corresponding author: if more than one author writes an article, you’ll choose one person to be the corresponding author. This person will handle all correspondence about the article and sign the publishing agreement on behalf of all the authors. They are responsible for ensuring that all the authors’ contact details are correct, and agree on the order that their names will appear in the article. The authors also will need to make sure that affiliations are correct, as explained in more detail below.

A submitted manuscript may consist of several authors but each name listed in the author list must be accompanied by relevant information such as affiliation, role, and email address. Personnel who are not involved as either co-author or corresponding author cannot be included even though they can be acknowledged in the content of the manuscript (if required). The number of authors for each manuscript is not specified but it is important to note that the size of the manuscript and the number of authors must be comparable. The editor will review the rationality between the size of the manuscript and the number of names listed as the author and has the right to decide whether a manuscript can be forwarded to the next editorial process.

Responsibilities of Authors and Corresponding Authors

Each author whose name is listed in the manuscript is responsible for writing and revising the manuscript. This includes the design process, drafting, data collection, data analysis, checking for plagiarism (before the manuscript is submitted), as well as aligning manuscripts with applicable guidelines in the journal.

One of the authors whose names are listed in the manuscript is responsible as the corresponding author. A corresponding author is responsible for registering an account in the journal, filling out the complete metadata of the manuscript, adding the author of the manuscript along with affiliation and email address, and communicating with the journal editor during the editorial process.

Non-Authors Acknowledgement

Personnel who contributed to the writing and development of the manuscript but not including the author of the manuscript can be mentioned in the acknowledgment section. This section is not included in the script template but can be added after the reference section if needed. Among the contributors who act as writing assistants, technical editors, language editors, translators, and proofreaders are non-authors.

Authorship Dispute Management

Before submitting the manuscript, the authors must agree to determine the authorship of the manuscript and appoint one of the authors to act as the corresponding author. Personnel who qualify as authors must be written in the manuscript and included in the metadata of the manuscript.

The editor will review whether the author's name listed in the manuscript matches that in the metadata. If there is a difference in names, both in writing and in number, the editor will ask the corresponding author to revise the list of author names both in the manuscript and in the metadata of the manuscript. If the corresponding author does not revise the author list within the specified time, the editor will use the author’s name list in the manuscript as a reference for author revisions in the manuscript metadata. In this case, especially when a manuscript has been published, complaints about the author's name cannot be submitted unless the manuscript is withdrawn (withdrawn from publication).

Intellectual Property Policies

Paper Mill

Journal Langua does not tolerate the practice of Paper Mill and if a manuscript is found that does not follow ethical standards, the author will be blacklisted from the journal. By Paper Mill, we mean “Manuscripts that are not written by following the applicable rules and sent at a certain fee (paid by the author) so that they can be published easily.”

This journal applies publishing fees and rapid review fees as stated in the description of the journal. Editors do not accept requests to publish a manuscript without a review process even if paid.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism in all forms is unethical behavior in the publication of scientific works and is not acceptable. The author must ensure that all works are original, and if the author has quoted the work and/or words of others, the author must include appropriate citations. There are various forms of plagiarism, such as acknowledging other people's writings as your own, copying or rewriting substantial parts of other people's work without citing sources, and claiming the results of research conducted by others. Self-plagiarism or auto-plagiarism is a form of plagiarism. Auto plagiarism is quoting or using sentences from his own previously published work without citing the source.

The editorial team checks each manuscript to ensure the level of similarity between one manuscript and another using the Plagiarism Checker. We've trained editors to recognize this potential. Manuscripts with a small size but have many authors are categorized into Paper Mill.

References

Any citations used in the manuscript must clearly state the author's name and year of publication and the page number where the citation can be found. All sources used in the manuscript must be included in the complete bibliography. This journal applies the APA style in writing a bibliography. Each manuscript must follow the reference writing using the APA style.

Confidentiality and Anonymity

For each research paper that involves humans as participants or data providers, the author should provide participant consent (that participants are willing to name and data published). Alternatively, authors/researchers can apply the principle of anonymity to maintain participant confidentiality. The names of people/participants can be coded using a combination of initials and numbers.

Ethical Standard for Reviewers

Open Peer Review

This journal applies an open review system where the reviewer knows the author of the manuscript and the author of the manuscript knows the reviewer. The name of the reviewer will be listed in the email of the review results which will be forwarded to the author and the name of the author will be listed in the manuscript submitted for review.

The Responsibility of the Reviewer

The reviewer appointed to review a manuscript is responsible for reading the manuscript carefully and providing an honest, objective, and professional assessment of the manuscript. Reviewers can use the available review form and submit their review results online. Reviewers have the full right to recommend whether a manuscript can be accepted or rejected but each recommendation must be followed by clear and verifiable reasons.

Recognition for Reviewers

This journal does not publish a review report on every issue published. We appreciate the efforts of reviewers and their contributions to the development and dissemination of knowledge through reviewer certificates that we publish annually. The reviewers in this journal work as volunteers who wish to develop and disseminate knowledge and improve work professionalism.
